Position Summary
This position sets up and operates CNC machines as well as other machines including drills, mills, and other machining centers.
Essential Functions
Able to access and load specific CNC programs to produce machined parts to specs and within tolerances.
Able to set up tool carriages/carriers with proper machine tools, ensuring tool life is observed.
Able to read and follow specific and detailed work instructions, drawings, or samples.
Perform light maintenance on the machines ensuring coolant and other systems are maintained and working.
Perform any required deburring, part clean up, and inspection as required.
Must be able to follow the production schedule, read detailed work orders, and report production and scrap.
Perform any other related work duties as required.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Must work safely observing all rules/procedures and ensure all safety systems are functioning at all times.
Must be able to read detailed prints and detailed work instructions, and utilize measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, gauges, tape measures, scales, etc.
Must be able to understand, create and enter tool paths per prints.
Must be capable of reading and understanding machining instructions and maintaining tolerances.
Must be capable of maintaining operator-controlled machine adjustments and P.M.
Must be dependable, responsible, and have a can-do attitude
Education, Training, Experience
High school diploma or GED is required
CNC certification/training/experience is desired.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
Work is performed in a factory with exposure to extreme weather conditions; noisy, dusty, and dirty environments; and motorized equipment that pose potential safety hazards. Long periods of standing, as well as regularly walking, sitting, lifting, reaching, and bending are required. Regularly lifting up to 50 lbs is required. Proper safety procedures, lifting techniques, and personal protective equipment are always required. This position may require extended hours and overtime depending on business needs.
