Details Acute care hospital setting with assignments across inpatient, outpatient, and rehab units as needed Speech pathology unit serving patients with stroke, TBI, neuro conditions, trauma, cognitive impairments, and dysphagia Inpatient caseload of up to 13 patients per day; outpatient caseload of up to 9 patients per day; rehab caseload varies Rehab unit is supported by approximately 2 rehab aides who assist with patient care 8-hour day shifts; shift start times and days of the week vary based on facility need (schedules such as Wed–Sun or Thur–Mon are possible) Every other weekend (EOW) requirement; specific weekend schedule communicated at time of requisition Holiday coverage is not required Floating to other areas within the facility is possible depending on assignment needs EMR: Cerner PowerChart (experience preferred; training provided if needed) 13-week contract Requirements Active state license for the state of practice required; license must be active at time of consideration — pending licenses not accepted (license required if applicable) Required certifications: BLS and CCC-SLP (Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology via ASHA) — both must be active; pending certifications not accepted Minimum 1 year of experience required; candidates with inpatient clinical experience may be considered with less than a full year Experience with bedside swallow studies required; video swallowing study experience preferred Trauma experience preferred Travel experience preferred Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, each including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire Copy of driver's license required for consideration Additional Information Provide speech-language pathology support services under the supervision of a licensed SLP across inpatient, outpatient, and/or rehab settings as assigned Patient population excludes NICU, pediatrics, PICU, ER, and ICU; inpatient diagnoses include stroke, TBI, neuro, trauma, cardiac, and med-surg presentations Department-specific orientation of approximately 1.5 days, including Cerner training if needed — no hospital-wide new hire orientation Required uniform: maroon polo shirt, dark-colored pants, and closed-toed shoes; lab coat is optional Candidates must not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity-affiliated facility within the past year; candidates placed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered American Traveler Job ID P-694753.
