A hospital-based opportunity is available for a Physician Assistant to provide care in a high-acuity pediatric cardiac unit. This role involves managing complex cardiac patients in a collaborative environment alongside APPs, residents, fellows, and attending physicians.
Compensation:
$160/hr

Night shifts: 7:00 PM 8:00 AM
13-hour shifts

Practice Details:
Setting: Inpatient (Pediatric Acute Cardiac Care Unit)
Unit Size: 44 beds
EMR: Not specified
Collaborative care model with APPs, residents, fellows, and attending physicians
Functions as a high-acuity step-down unit from ICU
Patient Population:
Pediatric cardiac patients
Includes pre- and post-operative cases, congenital and acquired cardiac conditions
Care Teams:
General Cardiology teams (pre/post-operative and general cardiac care)
Advanced cardiac care team (heart failure and transplant patients)
Responsibilities:
Provide inpatient care and daily patient management
Participate in rounding teams
Document and manage patient care plans
Manage complex cardiac conditions and post-operative care
Acuity & Clinical Exposure:
Ventricular assist devices (VADs)
Tracheostomy/ventilator-dependent patients
Inotropic infusions (e.g., Milrinone, Dopamine)
Chest tube management and removal
External pacing wires
Peritoneal dialysis patients
Patient Volume:
Night shift: up to 15 patients per provider
Requirements:
Board Certified Physician Assistant Required
Critical Care Certification Required
Active Texas License or willingness to obtain Required
Credentialing:
Orientation required prior to start
