Overview
MCT Companies is seeking a hands‑on Controller to lead the Accounting/Finance department in the monthly close process, oversee core accounting operations, and drive continuous improvement across financial systems and reporting. This role plays a key part in working with department managers to ensure accurate, timely financial information while helping modernize processes and tools across the organization.
What You’ll Own
Lead and own the
monthly close process , including accruals, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
Ensure the
accuracy and integrity of the general ledger and trial balance
Own ERP functionality and integration with other systems
Oversee
AP and AR functions (including Collections) , ensuring efficiency and strong internal controls
Manage and develop accounting staff, including performance management and coaching
Own
sales and use tax compliance , including filings, reconciliations, and audit support across jurisdictions
Manage
bank accounts and bank lines of credit
for all companies
Lead and coordinate the
annual budget process , serving as a strong guideline for ensuring accurate and complete financial reports
Lead and coordinate the
annual financial audit , serving as the primary point of contact for external auditors
Serve as a key partner in
financial reporting and operational decision support
for the Parts, Service, Sales and Contract teams
Systems & Process Improvement
Drive improvements in reporting and data visibility using
DOMO
Support implementation and optimization of systems such as
Karmak
and
Epicor
Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, reduce manual work, and improve accuracy
Establish and enhance accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
Leadership & Impact
Proactive in identifying opportunities to automate, streamline, and modernize workflows
Build and develop a high‑performing accounting team
Improve close timelines and reporting quality
Bring structure and clarity to accounting processes as the company grows
Act as a trusted partner to leadership on financial insights and process improvements
What Success Looks Like (First 6–12 Months)
Month‑end close is consistently accurate and timely
Financial reporting is clear, reliable, and decision‑ready
Key processes are documented and improved
Systems are better leveraged for insights and efficiency
Team is aligned, accountable, and developing
Curious, adaptable, and open to adopting new tools and technologies as the business evolves
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
5+ years of progressive accounting experience
Experience leading month‑end close and financial reporting
Strong systems experience (ERP + reporting tools like DOMO preferred)
Demonstrated ability to leverage technology to improve accounting processes, reporting, and data visibility
Comfortable working with large data sets and translating data into actionable insights
