Overview

The campaign is seeking a talented and versatile Speechwriter to shape the candidate's voice across every written medium. This role will be central to communicating the campaign's message, values, and policy priorities to voters, press, and stakeholders across Massachusetts. The ideal candidate is a sharp political writer who can move seamlessly between long-form speeches, rapid-response press materials, digital content, and internal briefings—often under tight deadlines.
Responsibilities

Speeches & Public Remarks
Draft speeches, remarks, talking points, and scripts for a wide range of settings, including rallies, town halls, debates, policy rollouts, endorsements, and fundraisers
Translate policy positions and campaign strategy into compelling, accessible language tailored to diverse Massachusetts audiences
Prepare concise briefing memos and annotated remarks to support the candidate before events and media appearances
Press & External Communications
Write press releases, media advisories, op-eds, and statements that clearly articulate the campaign's message and respond to breaking news
Collaborate with the communications team to ensure message discipline and consistency across earned media
Support rapid-response writing during moments of high news volume or opposition attacks
Digital & Voter-Facing Content
Draft social media copy for platforms including X, Instagram, Facebook, and email lists, adapting tone and length to each channel
Write campaign emails, including fundraising, organizing, and persuasion emails, aligned with overall messaging strategy
Help develop message frameworks and thematic language for digital campaigns and voter outreach
Strategy & Collaboration
Work closely with the candidate, campaign manager, communications director, and policy staff to understand priorities and strategic goals
Attend key meetings, events, and briefings to stay fluent in campaign developments and candidate voice
Maintain and refine the candidate's authentic voice across all written materials
Qualifications

Strong political writing experience, preferably on campaigns, in government, advocacy, or journalism
Exceptional command of language, tone, and narrative, with the ability to write quickly and accurately
Experience writing for multiple formats, from speeches and press releases to social media and email
Familiarity with Massachusetts politics and issues strongly preferred
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and adapt writing based on feedback
Discretion, professionalism, and sound political judgment
