DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Welder, you will perform routine and specialized welding maintenance and repair assignments on equipment within the Lycoming County Maintenance Organization. Work includes welding, brazing, soldering, and metal‑cutting jobs on ferrous and non‑ferrous metals. Tasks will be completed using acetylene, arc, metal inert gas (MIG) welding, and other related shop equipment. Duties also involve laying out equipment and materials, determining work processes to fabricate parts, and cutting, shaping, welding, and repairing metal structures or parts for a wide range of applications. Welding assignments may be conducted on truck and automobile bodies, engine parts, trailer parts, and winter service fleets such as plow frames, blades, and spreaders. It is essential to ensure that the work area is properly maintained, clean, safe, and that all safety procedures and protective equipment are utilized.

WORK SCHEDULE AND ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Full‑time employment
Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday‑Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch
Telework:
You will not have the option to telework in this position.
Salary:
Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin at the starting annual salary of $40,685.00 (before taxes).
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Three years of experience in the operation and use of welding equipment, materials, and related shop equipment to repair, maintain, or fabricate parts, equipment, or structures;
or
Completion of a three‑year high school Vo‑Tech training program in welding and eighteen months of experience in the operation and use of welding equipment, materials, and related shop equipment;
or
Completion of an approved welder apprentice program;
or
A welding certificate D1.1 from the American Welding Society;
or
An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirements
This position requires possession of an active Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
Additional Requirements
This position requires a welding certification within the 6‑month probationary period.
You must be able to perform essential job functions.
