Our Medical Practice located at Danbury-79 Sand Pit Rd is growing and building a strong team of passionate, patient‑focused MAs. Candidates must have reliable transportation. Data entry is required. Requirements include either a High School diploma/GED with at least 1 year of MA/Secretarial experience, or a newly graduated Medical Assistant, Nursing Assistant, EMT, or 3 years of job‑related medical office experience. Basic medical knowledge, terminology, and proficiency in obtaining accurate patient vital signs are essential. Hours are variable, 8‑hour shifts between 7 am and 7 pm.

Summary
Provides clinical and clerical support to assure smooth daily department operations in the assigned medical practice or practices. Assures that the patient and examination area is properly prepared.

Responsibilities

Greets patients, brings them from the waiting room to the clinical area, and performs all necessary intake activities, documenting vital signs, medications, allergies, and verifying EMR data.

Transcribes and updates patient information, including demographics, medication history, social and medical history from intake forms.

Provides clerical and secretarial support, prepares and organizes patient charts, and handles other paperwork such as disability forms and scanning relevant patient information.

Performs and stays current with EMR Orders Reconciliation processes as assigned.

Ensures the examination area is clean after each patient and re‑stocked, performing environmental rounds weekly or monthly as required.

Prep patients for scheduled visits, assisting with gowns and necessary clinical materials.

Coordinates in‑office testing and external ancillary services, reviewing instructions for procedures and tests.

Collects, prepares, and processes specimens, ensuring results are logged and reconciled in the patient record.

Maintains inventory, cleans, and tests medical equipment and supplies, filling appropriate logs.

Coaches and educates colleagues on procedures and techniques when new members join.

Conducts pathology and other audits as assigned.

Demonstrates and maintains proficiency in in‑office surgical procedures when applicable.

Interacts with patients and colleagues in accordance with Western Connecticut Medical Group service excellence standards.

Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education: HS Graduate or equivalent. Minimum experience: one year of medical office work. Desired: CPR certification preferred; bilingual skills preferred.

Other Information
Required: Data entry required. Must have reliable transportation. Basic medical knowledge and ability to obtain accurate patient vital signs.

Working Conditions

Manual: Some manual skills/motor coordination and finger dexterity requirements.

Occupational: Little or no potential for occupational risk.

Physical Effort: Medium to heavy effort, may require lifting up to 35 lbs.

Physical Environment: Generally pleasant working conditions.

Salary Range: $18.83 – $34.50 per hour.
