Description
Evaluates, administers and directs administration of therapies utilized in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation as prescribed by a referring practitioner to restore function and to prevent disability following disease, injury or loss of a body part. The Physical Therapist helps patients reach maximum performance levels and plans therapy involving therapeutic exercises, functional mobility training including bed mobility, transfer, and gait training. Utilizes various mechanical and electrical equipment, manual therapy, and prosthetic and orthotic devices. Evaluates, records and reports on patient progress. Establishes goals of physical therapy and re‑assesses patient’s progress at regular, timely intervals, supporting findings with appropriate documentation.
Essential Functions
Accurately performs a complete physical therapy evaluation and documents in an appropriate timeframe for a variety of patient populations. Competently develops a comprehensive, precise and well‑documented treatment plan that can be administered by another physical therapist or physical therapist assistant. Appropriately administers safe and effective treatment with corresponding documentation. Carefully re‑asses plan of care timely. Changes are made as needed. Safely operates all equipment relevant to treatment. Effectively establishes priorities for using time to maximize productivity. Accurately reflects billing in documentation. Willingly performs other duties as necessary. Adheres to 8‑minute rule when billing charges; provides sufficient documentation to justify charges including duration and detailed descriptions of interventions. Effectively manages problems and resolves conflict in a professional manner.
Education & Certifications
Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy. License/Registration – issued by Florida or Compact State. Physical Therapist Certification. Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
Work Experience
One (1) year Hospital Clinical experience.
