Professional Learning Specialist – Mathematics

Part Time, Year‑Round Availability

About the Role
Our Professional Learning team seeks highly motivated current or former mathematics teachers, instructional coaches, or leaders to join in a part‑time year‑round capacity. As the PL Specialist – Mathematics you will facilitate professional learning for K‑12 educators using Carnegie Learning mathematics resources on an as‑needed basis year‑round. A PL Specialist is a product ambassador, promotes implementation fidelity, and increases teacher effectiveness in the schools/districts they support.

Responsibilities

Facilitate engaging professional learning workshops focused on Carnegie Learning products, best practices in teaching, and content expertise.

Provide intentional adult learning experiences anchored in clear learning intentions, active participant thinking, and explicit connections to classroom practice.

Preserve time for reflection, discourse, and application to ensure learning transfers into classroom implementation.

Refine workshops and learning experiences to meet the unique needs and contexts of partners.

Deliver job‑embedded professional learning to teachers and campus leadership (formal coaching cycles, collaborative lesson cycles, lesson internalization support, PLC facilitation).

Facilitate reflective, evidence‑based coaching cycles that surface teacher thinking and anchor conversations in classroom artifacts and student evidence.

Cultivate teacher ownership of instructional goals and next steps, creating space for reflection, agency, and accountability.

Uphold Carnegie Learning’s core commitments in every interaction—approaching educators with belief in their potential, honoring their voices and expertise, empowering ownership of implementation, and inspiring progress.

Leverage data to drive teacher growth, inform ongoing support, and track partnership progress.

Follow the Professional Learning process in all aspects of delivery: planning, confirming, communicating, executing, and following up.

Ensure timely completion of all documentation such as workshop feedback, coaching logs, and emails.

Maintain accurate records of professional learning deliverables, forecast deliverables, and manage your calendar.

Use logs and feedback forms strategically to strengthen coaching continuity and build trust.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Education (specific to mathematics or related field).

3+ years of mathematics teaching experience.

Residing in one of the following states: Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Virginia, Washington D.C., West Virginia.

Flexible schedule and availability during summer and school year.

Prior experience with Carnegie Learning resources (preferred).

Experience mentoring/coaching teachers (preferred).

Experience facilitating professional learning workshops (preferred).

Coaching certification such as Cognitive Coaching (preferred).

Travel Commitment
This role requires travel when delivering onsite professional learning. PL Specialists have the opportunity to accept or decline opportunities based on their individual schedules and plans.
