Scheduling

Schedule determined based on course need and clinical specialty for each 8‑week session.

Clinical instructors typically scheduled for non‑consecutive, 12‑hour shifts.

Additional dates may not be available, and clinical dates are not guaranteed for every session.

Responsibilities

Implement the College's philosophy, curriculum, program outcomes, and course objectives through clinical teaching and service to the College, community, health system, and profession.

Assume responsibility for all autonomous aspects of individual teaching loads.

Plan clinical experiences and provide direct supervision and evaluation of nursing students delivering care.

Be available to staff at the agencies.

Evaluate and provide documented feedback to students on performance based on course objectives.

Provide remediation for students as required.

Orient and maintain current knowledge related to agency/clinical policies, procedures, and expectations with assistance from agency/clinical personnel.

Develop and post written clinical assignments consistent with student knowledge base, skill competency, and individual learning needs.

Correct and return homework, quizzes, tests, lab assignments, clinical paperwork, and other written work in a timely manner.

Contribute to the ongoing development, implementation, and evaluation of the programs and the College.

Teach didactic course content under supervision of the course coordinator.

Keep the course coordinator informed of all student and agency issues and concerns.

Work with college administration, staff, and other faculty members to improve overall operations and student satisfaction rates.

Participate in the implementation of the College Assessment Program, campus retention efforts, and departmental and campus policies.

Serve as a professional role model for faculty, staff, and students in customer service, collaboration, communication, excellence, dress, attendance, and professionalism.

Utilize relationship skills in group problem solving, consensus building, and negotiation.

Comply with all applicable regulatory rules, standards, and policies.

Report to the dean or assistant dean, with direct oversight from a course coordinator.

Handle related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Master's Degree in Nursing Required.

Unencumbered professional nursing license in Ohio.

Illinois RN License required (prioritized for instructors currently licensed in Illinois).

Active BLS certification (American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Military Training Network).

Minimum of 2 years of recent nursing practice within the last five years as a registered nurse.

Excellent communication skills and high level of initiative and prudent judgment.

In support of pay transparency laws, the expected compensation rate for this position is between $1,120 and $7,245 per assignment, depending on education and experience. Pay may be adjusted based on course type, experience, licensure, market factors, and departmental budgets.
