Instructor, Chemistry (Tenure-Track)

Coastline College invites applications for a full‑time, equity‑oriented, tenure‑track faculty position in Chemistry, beginning with the Fall 2026 semester. The role involves teaching all areas of Chemistry across in‑person, hybrid, online, and off‑campus modalities while engaging in curriculum development, committee work, departmental governance, interdisciplinary collaboration, student support, and ongoing professional growth.

Responsibilities

Provide instruction in Chemistry in accordance with established course outlines.

Lead the development and revision of Chemistry curriculum responsive to the student population.

Participate in curriculum development, implementation, and assessment; develop programs to measure student performance.

Maintain current knowledge in assigned disciplines.

Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication with students, colleagues, and staff.

Use appropriate teaching methods and materials for varied modalities and diverse learners.

Comply with course outline requirements and learning outcomes.

Maintain regular, timely office hours.

Safeguard confidential student records.

Adhere to college and departmental requirements and applicable bargaining agreements.

Exemplify patience, fairness, sensitivity, and responsiveness to student needs, supporting diversity.

Demonstrate collegiality, respect, and commitment to the profession, fostering academic freedom and continuous improvement.

Maintain professional conduct and ethics standards.

Carry out the full range of faculty duties, including teaching, record‑keeping, grading, meeting participation, and committee service.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in Chemistry, or

Bachelor’s in Chemistry or Biochemistry combined with a Master’s in Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Chemical Physics, Physics, Molecular Biology, or Geochemistry, or

Experience and education equivalent to the above; applicants seeking equivalency must submit an Application for Equivalency.

Salary and Benefits
Salary range of $68,438 – $116,678 with the AA schedule, plus an annual stipend of $3,992 for holders of an earned doctorate. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and life insurance for employees and eligible dependents, plus an annual stipend for doctoral holders.
