Overview

Department: Medical Surgical Ortho Neuro

Schedule: Full Time Days, 7:00am - 7:30pm, 3-12 hour shifts

Facility: Prime Healthcare Mercy Medical Center

Location: Aurora, IL 60506

Responsibilities

Supports administrative responsibility for department service functions and collaborates with the unit Director and/or Manager.

In the absence of the unit Director and/or Manager, assumes the administrative scope of the assigned unit.

Develops and implements departmental plans, including performance improvement activities and compliance with current federal and/or state regulations.

Prepares, conducts, and/or oversees department orientation and training of personnel.

Communicates with staff, physicians, and administration both written and verbally.

Is responsible and accountable for the quality of staff and functions during their shift.

Assists the Department Director in daily operations, directing, supervising, and evaluating personnel, ensuring proper use of time, equipment, and staff.

Ensures efficient function of the department.

Performs direct patient care as needed within the scope of practice.

Continually assesses care and directs staff to make immediate changes in the plan of care.

Qualifications

Current and valid state Registered Nurse license.

Bachelor Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Current Basic Life Support certificate (BLS) upon hire and maintained.

Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) upon hire and maintained.

Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience, with 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role preferred.

Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certificate preferred for Intensive Care.

Non‑OB Facilities – NRP required 90 days after hire and maintained.

Professional Certification within 2 years of hire preferred.

Mercy Medical Center offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package that includes paid time off, a 401(k) retirement plan, medical, dental, and vision coverage, tuition reimbursement, and additional voluntary benefit options. The estimated hourly compensation range for this role is $36.75 to $55.70. The exact starting compensation will be determined at the time of selection based on skillset, experience, education, credentials, and licensure.
