Aircraft Servicer/Transient Alert – Creech Air Force Base
Amentum is seeking an Aircraft Servicer/Transient Alert for Creech Air Force Base.
Purpose and Scope
Responsible for providing flight line services to all transient and emergency aircraft landing and departing Creech AFB, NV.
Operate the airfield’s sweeper IAW the Creech Airfield Sweeping Plan (AIR.PLN.18080.0001) to maintain pavement areas on or adjacent to runways, taxiways, ramps and runway overruns on a regularly scheduled basis and as needed.
Essential Responsibilities
Direct incoming and outgoing aircraft to assist pilots’ maneuvering of the aircraft on the ground, using a combination of hand, light signal devices, and ground communication cords.
Secure aircraft in parking position by using appropriate wheel chocks and tie‑down equipment.
Operate servicing equipment to replenish aircraft with fuel, oil, water, breathing oxygen and hydraulic fluids.
Perform End of Runway (EOR) inspections to include: de‑arming and arming munitions (chaff, flares, guns, etc.) and egress systems (ejection seats); removing and installing landing gear safety pins; flight control operations check; overall aircraft safety check (leaking fluids, tire condition, etc.).
Check for fuel contamination by draining fuel sumps and drains.
Sample aircraft engines for oil contamination.
Examine and service aircraft tires to correct air pressure.
Respond to all in‑flight and ground emergencies and, if necessary, remove disabled aircraft from runway using towing equipment.
Position and remove boarding platforms to load and unload passengers.
Inspect and operate ground support equipment such as electrical power supplies, engine‑starting units, and aircraft towing vehicles and equipment.
Utilize appropriate electronic TOs and related publications.
Enter appropriate aircraft form entries for all tasks.
Responsible for daily sweeping operations of airfield utilizing a Tymco 600 (street sweeper).
Perform other position-related duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Must have Department of Defense or civilian formal technical training in the aircraft maintenance career field.
Two (2) to Four (4) years of prior military fighter aircraft maintenance experience is required.
Position requires the ability to qualify for and maintain a government Secret Security Clearance.
Must possess a valid state‑issued driver’s license and be able to pass a color‑blindness test to obtain a Flight Line Driver’s License (AF Form 483).
Must be able to obtain an operator’s certification (AF Form 2293) for an aircraft towing vehicle and airfield sweeper.
Must have good oral and written communication skills.
Position may require different shift work assignments and, on occasions, routine travel and staying 2‑5 nights away from home for additional equipment or qualification training.
On occasion, must be able to work weekends and holidays.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands
Typical hazards working on or around a military airport. Ability to work independently using sound judgment. Ability to perform certain physical tasks necessary to normal Transient Alert operations, which may include heavy lifting and carrying not to exceed 40 pounds 5 feet above the ground, 50 pounds 3 feet above the ground, or 50 pounds when carrying an object 33 feet or less. Constant use of sight, speech, and hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, planning/organizing skills, and ability to work under deadlines.
