Position Summary
This is a nine‑month tenure track or tenured appointment (65% Extension, 30% Teaching, 5% Service) with two months of summer salary. The role focuses on developing and providing leadership for a nationally/internationally recognized meat science Extension and teaching program.

Major Responsibilities

Develop and lead a state‑of‑the‑art meat science Extension program, partnering with industry, county agents, and scientists.

Provide expertise on meat processing, fresh and processed meat production, meat evaluation, 4‑H and FFA meat judging, and HACCP training.

Contribute to or develop a comprehensive meat science curriculum, including relevant topics in meat evaluation.

Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students, fostering industry work experiences and internships.

Lead students in extracurricular learning experiences, including guest lectures and applied research projects.

Teach undergraduate meat science courses and one graduate course within the department.

Additional Requirements
Associate Professor candidates must have at least five full years at the Assistant Professor level and demonstrate a national reputation. Tenure eligibility requires appointment as an Associate Professor, prior tenure, and approval for tenure upon hire.

Minimum Qualifications

Ph.D. in animal science, meat science, or a closely related field.

Proven record of excellence in meat science research and teaching.

Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, And/or Certification

Proven record of carrying and publishing innovative research.

Successful acquisition of extramural funding.

Background in intercollegiate meat judging.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And/or Competencies

Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with colleagues and meat industry professionals.
