Position Overview
Physical Therapist Assistant – Resource (Floater) position that will float to different clinics as needed.

Responsibilities

Implement physical therapy programs and activities, follow recovery plans, and deliver therapy treatments.

Execute programs to restore, reinforce, and enhance clients’ physical abilities.

Provide patient care according to established protocols and guidelines.

Maintain timely documentation, including daily notes, weekly workers’ compensation reports, progress reports, and incident reports.

Administer comprehensive patient care: active and passive manual therapeutic exercises, therapeutic massage, heat, light, sound, water, and electrical modalities such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation, ultraviolet, infrared, and hot and cold packs.

Administer traction to relieve neck and back pain.

Instruct, motivate, and assist patients in learning and improving functional activities such as perambulation, transfer, ambulation, and daily living activities.

Observe patients during treatments, compile data on responses and progress, and report orally or in writing to the Physical Therapist and Clinical Director.

Fit patients for, adjust, and train them in the use of orthopedic braces, prostheses, and supportive devices such as crutches, canes, walkers, and wheelchairs.

Collaborate with physical therapy staff and other health team members to discuss, evaluate, and coordinate treatment plans.

Measure patient range of joint motion, body part length and girth, and vital signs to determine treatment effects and assist in evaluations.

Qualifications

Graduate from a CAPTE‑accredited physical therapy assistant program.

Current licensure as a Physical Therapy Assistant or ability to obtain it in Virginia.

Previous experience in an outpatient setting preferred.

Current CPR certification.

Proficiency in exercise, sports rehabilitation, and manual‑based skills.
