
Outpatient Youth Therapist

If you enjoy working with children 14‑17 years of age, the Outpatient Therapist position at New Directions – a youth residential campus established in 1981 – might be the right fit for you. New Directions, Inc. offers a full continuum of treatment programming for adolescents with a primary substance abuse disorder and co‑occurring mental health concerns. The facility is located in Pepper Pike, Ohio, and provides gender‑specific residential programs, an intensive outpatient program (IOP), and traditional outpatient programs; medical detoxification services are not provided on‑site.
As an Outpatient Therapist you will conduct comprehensive substance‑use assessments, develop individualized treatment plans, and facilitate therapeutic services for adolescents with co‑occurring mental health and substance‑use disorders in outpatient and IOP settings. You will support youth and families through trauma‑informed care, coordinate admissions, and collaborate with community partners. The role requires evening availability and licensure as a mental‑health provider.
Key Responsibilities
Provide trauma‑informed services to clients and their families.
Document accurately, concisely and contemporaneously, including diagnostic assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
Consult and collaborate with community partners and client treatment teams; promote New Directions services and engage in outreach activities.
Conduct individual therapy focused on practical skills.
Make referrals for clients and/or family members as appropriate.
Identify potential crisis situations and develop proactive plans to prevent them.
Key Qualifications
Licensed credential: CDCA (with hands‑on clinical experience), LCDC II, LCDC III, LSW or LPC; required.
Experience performing diagnostic assessments in a mental‑health setting.
Experience in crisis intervention, triage, and knowledge of community resources (preferred).
At least 2 years experience working with adolescents and their families involving addiction and mental‑health treatment.
Experience working with parents and legal guardians in a family‑counseling setting.
Valid Ohio driver’s license with acceptable driving record, reliable transportation and automobile insurance meeting the stated liability limits.
