This is a contract job opportunity.

Position: Phlebotomist 4579

Location: Sun City, CA (float job) – will float to Menifee, Perris, Hemmitt, Temecula, Fallbrook, and Wildomar.

Schedule: 6AM to 6PM, M–F. Shifts are 8 hours; may need to arrive at 6AM or end as late as 6PM depending on coverage.

Pay rate: $20.20 to $22.20 per hour, depending on experience.

Requires pediatric and geriatric experience.

Summary:

The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshoot, train and make workflow recommendations.

Responsibilities

Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.

Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.

Properly explains in a clear but courteous manner the process of venipuncture (blood drawing) and other specimen collection (e.g., urine or fecal) as required.

Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.

Fully understand all of the physicians' orders.

Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.

Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.

Check all test requisitions or computer label against script to ensure 100% correct.

Package specimens for transport.

Store specimen samples according to required temperature, place samples in appropriate collection container/tube, accurately label, follow different procedures as outlined by specific protocols necessary for transport to maintain specimen integrity.

Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.

Attend annual department trainings.

Answer telephone calls, read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.

Minimum Qualifications

Valid phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states.

Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

High School Diploma or GED.

Minimum of 2 years of experience.
