Job Summary
The Oncology Data Specialist – Certified (ODS-C) is responsible for performing all functions associated with the maintenance of the Harris Health System Cancer Registry, including case finding, abstracting, follow‑up, participation in registry quality assurance functions, and tumor boards.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate’s degree with completion of the Cancer Data Management program via an approved program by the National Cancer Registrar Association (NCRA) and at least one year of work experience as an Oncology Data Specialist – Certified (ODS-C) (Preferred).
High school diploma with completion of the Cancer Data Management program via an approved program by the National Cancer Registrar Association (NCRA) and at least two years of work experience as an Oncology Data Specialist – Certified (ODS-C).
Oncology Data Specialist – Certified (ODS-C) license.
Exceptional verbal, written, and correspondence skills, with experience in public speaking.
Proficiency in personal computer and Excel.
Analytical skills and knowledge of medical terminology.
Eligible for telecommute.
Basic desktop computer knowledge and proficiency with cancer registry software Elekta/Metriq (preferred).
Basic analytical skills to determine completeness and interpret medical information on diagnosis and treatment of cancer; ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail during abstracting.
