Position Overview
We seek a motivated and organized Legal Assistant to support our in‑house counsel at Martinez & Dieterich Legal Group. The role involves providing high‑quality administrative and legal support to ensure the protection of our policyholders and the company’s legal interests.
Key Responsibilities
Organize and maintain case files, request necessary documents, and keep cases well‑organized.
Manage and review the legal calendar, meet deadlines, document actions, and input information into the file database.
Draft legal documents and standard letters, assist with drafting pleadings, responses to discovery, motions, orders to file with the court, and schedule depositions, mediations, hearings, and electronic filings.
Interface with clients, claims adjusters, court clerks, and court reporters.
Review, document, and distribute mail and e‑mails as necessary.
Apply knowledge of the litigation process, including opening new files, answering discovery, filing motions and pleadings, maintaining and scheduling appointments, and assisting in trial preparation.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Required Skills
Energetic, organized, and able to work independently.
Professional appearance and pleasant personality.
Ability to provide previous employment references and pass a background check upon a conditional offer of employment.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Paralegal or Legal Assistant.
Proficiency with the State E‑filing system.
Proficiency in all aspects of the civil litigation process and rules.
Computer literacy is essential.
Bilingual communication skills in English and Spanish are a plus.
