
Engineer II - Wheel & Brake Support

Position Summary
The Engineer 2 - Wheel & Brake Support will be working within a team that provides technical support for wheel and brake equipment on legacy aircraft and potentially new programs. You will help ensure that designs meet the requirements defined by the customer, government agencies, and BSD internal standards. This encompasses adherence to performance, cost and schedule requirements. The role also includes support for internal customers to ensure the business delivers its commitments to its contractual customers and operators.
Job Responsibilities
Collate various actions from Procurement, Manufacturing, and Technical Support for management review of priorities. Once determined, supporting resolution of the actions and questions
When required, lead / be responsible for small sub-projects within larger Wheel and Brake efforts.
Conduct performance calculations and simulations to validate that the equipment will meet the required design requirements.
Providing technical guidance to Parker Meggitt suppliers on drawing queries, issues and product non-conformances to enable supply of product
Conduct technical assessments of alternative materials as a result of obsolescence and shortages in the supply chain
Provide technical support to the wheel and brake MRB approved engineers for concession reviews and dispositions
Responsible for the creation of EPCN’s (Engineering Production Change Notices) and EDN’s (Engineering Deviation Notices) related to sustaining support activities in conformance with internal processes, including QAP11-00-02
Approve drawing updates and amendments related to sustaining activities
Support Root Cause & Corrective Action activities for manufacturing issues.
Helps to ensure relevant program targets are satisfied, including technical performance, non-recurring costs (NRC), recurring costs (RC), and project milestones (Schedule) where applicable. This includes coordination with other Engineering functions, such as stress, thermal, vibration, and reliability, to support the equipment development.
Works closely with assigned Test Engineers and team engineers to assist in the development of test documents and test set-up drawings
Assists in the maintenance of equipment parts lists and drawing reviews to ensure drawings are released on time and are in conformance with design and drafting standards.
When required, support a Lead W&B engineer and/or Lead W&B Designer through various phases of equipment development including requirements management, requirements validation, design manufacturing phase, qualification/ certification testing and initial entry into service.
Consult with and seek guidance from the Lead W&B Engineer, Subject Matter Expert and Chief Engineers as required.
Qualifications
Bachelor degree in Engineering
Minimum of 2 years related experience OR related Master degree with 6 months of experience
Experience with Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Geometrical Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and working knowledge of applicable manufacturing processes - required
Aircraft Systems knowledge/exposure/experience - required
Proficiency in the use of Smarteam for document creations, modifications and approval routing - preferred
Proficiency in the use of CATIA - preferred
Proficient in the use of SAP to conduct 'where used' analysis for change notice creations - preferred
Experience/ Exposure with DFMEAs and Risk Analysis - preferred
Project Management skills including schedule tracking
Able to travel to local suppliers/manufacturing sites, in addition to sites outside of the country when necessary
Demonstrated communication skills
Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to drive tasks to completion
Proficient in Microsoft Office and database management tools
Follows standard practices and procedures
Builds stable working relationships internally
