
Consultant Ecologist - Ecosupport

Role
Ecosupport Ltd are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team. As part of the role, you will plan, manage, and deliver professional ecological services to a broad range of clients. You will also be responsible for the coordination of surveys and field staff, as well as liaison with clients and professionals.
Ecosupport Ltd are based in Lee-on-Solent, Hampshire, and will require travel throughout the region and surrounding counties. Although this is predominantly a field‑based role, our assistant ecologists are expected to work within the office and in the field.
Responsibilities
Independently carry out and manage ecological services such as Preliminary Ecological Appraisals
Produce technical ecological reports including impact assessments and mitigation strategies
Liaise with clients and other professionals
Assist with the production of EPS Licence applications
Assist senior‑level ecologists in carrying out ecological services
Project coordination and management, including the coordination of surveys and field staff
Analyse technical data, such as bat acoustics analysis, habitat mapping, and use of QGIS
Complete and lead in‑field ecology and protected species surveys
Potentially use your own car for site visits, with mileage and business insurance claimed back (if Ecosupport Ltd cars are in use)
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum of 2+ years working as an ecologist with strong client liaison skills and experience with project management
Relevant degree in a related field
Strong all‑around field skills, particularly in flora and fauna identification
Strong all‑round experience with protected species surveys, bat acoustic analysis, and / or QGIS
Experience producing a range of technical reports and ecological services such as impact assessments, mitigation strategies, and EPS Licences
Protected Species survey licences desirable but not mandatory, particularly for bats
Strong communication, organisational, and team working skills as well as a positive attitude, self‑disciplined, and a desire to learn and be challenged
A full driver’s licence
