Team Lead (Special Assignment) - 2nd Shift

SUMMARY
The Operations Lead has general responsibility for coordinating and supervising all operational activities assigned on a daily basis. Under the direction of the Operations Supervisor, the Operations Lead supervises associates dedicated to warehousing, receiving, and shipping of product in a manner consistent with company service and cost objectives. Associates are expected to meet company objectives in performance, safety, and quality, and to comply with all corporate and site‑specific policies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Training Responsibilities
Mentor and train new and existing associates in distribution activities to meet customer demands.
Train associates on current Standard Operating Procedures for shipping, receiving, picking, and quality control.
Assist in forklift operation and certification for new and existing associates.
Shipping/Receiving Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate unloading of inbound shipments, stacking of product, and picking/staging of outbound shipments to maximize productivity.
Verify required inbound/outbound paperwork with drivers, ensuring accurate counts.
Load orders accurately according to doors and trailers.
Process all shipping/receiving/picking functions per Standard Operating Procedures and investigate discrepancies.
Customer Service
Maintain professional appearance and communications.
Communicate with customers by phone, email, or in person as needed.
Prepare activity reports accurately for site management.
Quality Control Responsibilities
Use appropriate documentation to ensure correct receipt or shipment of products and accurate picking.
Verify product or order quality, report damages or discrepancies, and perform packaging, shrink wrapping, and labeling.
Report inconsistencies to the Operations Supervisor or Operations Manager and participate in quality meetings.
Safety, Housekeeping, and Compliance
Comply with ISO standards, safety protocols, and OSHA/MSDS regulations.
Promote safety in all job tasks.
Maintain cleanliness and security of the warehouse.
Participate in safety meetings.
Labor Management
Direct warehouse operations to meet objectives.
Assist associates and temporary labor with productivity sheets and accurate capture of hours.
Support schedule creation, implementation, and job completion.
Ensure associates follow all quality procedures and guidelines.
Equipment Operation
Operate and maintain equipment such as sit‑down, stand‑up, reach trucks, sweeper scrubbers, scissor lifts, cherry pickers, aisle masters, and pallet jacks.
Inspect and perform minor maintenance on equipment daily.
Maintain active forklift certification.
OTHER DUTIES
Perform clerical and administrative tasks as directed, including answering phones, scheduling, filing, and guest greeting.
Work evenings and weekends as needed.
Perform other duties as required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
None.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or GED.
1 year experience in a logistics, distribution, or related environment.
Ability to operate material handling equipment (MHE).
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Professional Designations
Completion of a forklift training program.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
Basic computer skills, RF scanners, and WMS functions.
English (reading, writing, verbal).
Basic to intermediate mathematical skills for verifying quantities and inventory.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work with minimal supervision.
Effective communication with all organizational levels.
Adaptability to change in a fast‑paced environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
2‑4 years experience in a warehouse, logistics, or distribution environment.
2‑4 years forklift experience.
Current or prior MHE certification.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Requires use of hands to handle or feel objects, reach with arms, stoop, kneel, or crouch, and lift in excess of 40 lbs. Must be able to stand for extended periods.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Low to moderate noise; minimal exposure to fumes or chemicals.
COMPENSATION
Base pay range: $20 - $24 per hour, determined by experience, skills, and location.
