Job Summary
The Material Handler will be responsible for accurately and safely loading and unloading of materials while maintaining the flow of materials to the organization to ensure that all aspects of the company needs are being met.
Responsibilities
Reads sales order, follows oral instructions, phone instructions or e‑mail instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved; opens containers; gathers orders based on visual observation or tickets pulled from a supply Kanban or workstation Kanban.
Receives incoming materials, parts, and packages from various suppliers and delivery modes; unpacks, examines and routes shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shippers or suppliers to rectify damages and shortages; delivers paperwork to data entry for input.
Orders material from warehouse or storage area via ERP system for production lines.
Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks and shelves by hand.
Loads and unloads materials onto and from vehicles with larger and heavier loads using a fork truck; smaller and lighter loads may be handled by hand or a manual material‑handling device; outbound goods may require installation or fabrication of crating, strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit.
May be required to use crimping or banding tools or stretch wrap by hand or machine to prepare some materials for movement.
Conveys materials from storage or worksite to designated area by use of forklift.
Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases or other containers; for receiving materials delivers appropriate paperwork to data entry.
Stacks or assembles materials into bundles and bands bundles together.
Operates industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
Maintains an adequate amount of shipping and/or receiving materials on hand at all times.
Assists with and/or supports cycle counts and inventory counts as directed by supervisor.
Other duties may be assigned.
Basic Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent.
1+ years of forklift experience.
Preferred Qualifications
2+ years of experience pulling orders in a warehouse environment.
Essential Physical/Environmental Requirements
Ability to lift 50 pounds plus bending, twisting or lifting from awkward positions or in tight spaces; must be able to push and pull cases in excess of 200 lb to 800 lb repetitiously.
Regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear.
Frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms; occasionally required to sit, stoop, and/or kneel.
