Project Controls and Estimating

Overview
The Materials Coordinator supports project execution by coordinating the planning, tracking, expediting, and control of materials and equipment required for engineering, procurement, fabrication, and construction activities. This role ensures materials are delivered on time, in compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and contractual requirements, while maintaining accurate documentation and system data.

The Materials Coordinator works closely with Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Logistics, and Suppliers to enable seamless material flow across all phases of the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
Materials Planning & Coordination

Coordinate material requirements based on engineering deliverables, construction schedules, and project plans.

Support material take-offs (MTOs) and ensure alignment with procurement strategies.

Monitor material demand versus supply to prevent shortages, overages, or delays.

Procurement & Expediting Support

Support Procurement and Expediting teams by tracking purchase orders, vendor documentation, and delivery schedules.

Follow up with suppliers and logistics providers to ensure timely shipment and delivery of materials.

Escalate potential risks related to material availability or delivery delays.

Logistics, Receiving & Warehousing

Coordinate delivery schedules with construction sites, warehouses, and laydown yards.

Support receiving inspections, documentation validation, and material acceptance processes.

Track material storage locations and manage movement to job sites as needed.

Materials Tracking & Systems

Maintain accurate materials data in Fluor systems (e.g., material management, procurement, or project control systems).

Track material status from purchase through delivery, installation, and surplus disposition.

Generate materials status reports for project management and stakeholders.

Quality, Safety & Compliance

Ensure materials comply with project specifications, quality standards, and contractual requirements.

Support Fluor’s safety culture by following all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies.

Assist with audits, inspections, and regulatory documentation as required.

Interface & Communication

Act as a liaison between Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Logistics teams.

Participate in project meetings related to materials, logistics, and construction readiness.

Communicate material status, risks, and mitigation plans clearly and proactively.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Engineering, or related field preferred.

2–5 years of experience in materials coordination, supply chain, logistics, or construction/project environments.

Experience supporting EPC or large industrial projects preferred.

Technical Skills & Knowledge

Understanding of materials management processes in engineering and construction projects.

Familiarity with procurement, expediting, logistics, and warehousing functions.

Proficiency in ERP or materials management systems (SAP or similar preferred).

Strong Microsoft Excel and reporting skills.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and material specifications (preferred).
