Job Summary
Monitor all functions of the UNC heat plant to supply a continuous supply of high‑temperature hot water to all UNC buildings. Maintain and operate high‑temperature hot water boilers and associated equipment. Assist HVAC shop as needed.
Job Responsibilities
Monitor/Inspection (50%) – Visually inspect, monitor and record readings of boiler, pumps and air compressors temperature and pressure, compression on tanks pressure, and outside air temperature on an hourly basis.
Water Chemical Analysis Treatment (10%) – Perform water chemical analysis and treatment for boilers, city water, system water, cooling towers water and water softeners. Adjust treatment program to maintain proper chemical balance.
Maintain Environment (20%) – Maintain a clean environment for proper function and operation of equipment and computers. Repair any equipment in‑house and on campus.
Preventative Maintenance (20%) – Perform preventative maintenance daily, monthly and annually depending on function and use. Recommend repairs or replacement of equipment.
Valid driver’s license required.
Residency Requirement

Minimum Qualifications
Four (4) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position.
OR a combination of related education, formalized apprenticeship program, and/or relevant experience equal to four (4) years.
