is seeking a highly motivated
Attorney
with Social Security Disability experience for our main office in
Chatsworth, CA.
This position will report under Leibovic Law Group, LLP, the in‑house law firm for Health Advocates that provides legal guidance and representation when needed in front of an Administrative Law Judge and/or State and Federal courts.
Job Summary
Evaluates Supplemental Security Income/Social Security Disability Insurance (SSI/SSDI) case referrals and/or claim denials to determine whether or not the denied claim can be overturned. Responsible for evaluating new referrals and denials, developing and implementing a preliminary case strategy; reviewing new and open cases during application, reconsideration and hearing levels to determine merit and legal theory; presenting medical evidence and engaging in negotiation; preparing claimants and cases for hearings; drafting legal briefs and letters to the Social Security Administration (SSA); representing claimants before an Administrative Law Judge; documenting hearing/case information in a computer system; reviewing unfavorable decisions to determine merit for appeals; preparing Appeals Council briefs and letters; completing work assignments within required timelines; conducting training sessions for department staff; and performing miscellaneous related duties as required.
Qualifications
Juris Doctorate Degree
Admission to California State Bar (or other State Bar) required
Over two years of direct experience in social service counseling and/or legal representation
Strong negotiation and presentation skills
Outstanding organization, analytical skills and abilities
Ability to prioritize multiple projects
Knowledge of the 5‑step sequential evaluation process
Ability to handle a high volume of cases on a daily basis
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Possess and maintain a valid California Driver’s License
Reliable vehicle with current auto insurance coverage
Willing and able to travel regularly
Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook
Type at least 40 words per minute

Salary:
$42–$92 per hour (Depends on relevant experience)
Schedule:
Alternative Work Week Schedule: Mon–Thurs 7:30 am–5:00 pm & Fri 7:30 am–12:30 pm.
Other:
We conduct assessment testing and post‑offer background checks.
