Business Instructor
Umpqua Community College is seeking a Full‑Time Business Instructor who is passionate about teaching, experienced in real‑world business practices, and committed to preparing students for today’s dynamic economy. This position offers the opportunity to teach, mentor, and inspire diverse learners while contributing to a collaborative, student‑centered academic community.

This position is open until filled.

Commensurate with State of Oregon requirements of respective academic and/or technical field.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Business Management, or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution; willingness to obtain additional graduate‑level business credits as required.

Minimum of three years of recent teaching, training, or related professional experience with demonstrated instructional effectiveness in business‑related subjects, such as accounting, management, marketing, finance, personal finance, or introductory business.

Three or more years of relevant industry experience in a business‑related field (e.g., management, marketing, finance, accounting, retail, or a closely related area).

Innovative, collaborative, and student‑centered approach to teaching and program development.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in team‑based environments.

Proficiency with computer technology, including Microsoft Office, and the ability to effectively use or quickly learn a learning management system (Canvas).

Ability to work on campus during a standard Monday–Friday schedule.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in Business Administration.

Community college teaching experience in business and accounting.

Experience developing and teaching online courses using Canvas.

Experience with academic or program development in a community college setting or demonstrated industry partnerships supporting program growth.

Familiarity with online course quality standards such as Quality Matters.

Experience with business software applications and administrative or leadership roles in business or higher education.
