Job Description
Miller's is proud to provide training for those interested in a career as a Certified Nursing Assistant free of charge. Each student is required to complete classroom training and clinical training. Upon completion, students must pass the state exam to become a Certified Nurse's Aide. See below for more details on training.
Qualifications
Classroom Instruction : Each student is required to complete 36‑40 hours of classroom work. All students must pass with at least 80% the tests administered during this portion. Each student has 3 attempts. If a student does not pass the classroom phase, they will not be placed into the clinicals.
Clinical Practicum : Each student must complete 75 hours of supervised practicum in a long‑term care facility. During practicum the student must perform all required skills successfully. The first 16 hours are with the class instructor; absence during this time will result in being excused from the program. The student may be assigned a preceptor to assist with organization and time management. At completion, the preceptor and instructor give an evaluation of the student's progress. Skills checklists (RCPs) not signed in classroom must be demonstrated and signed off during clinicals, and the completed checklist must be submitted with all required skills. A clinical sign‑in record is supplied; the student completes it daily, signed by a licensed professional, noting date, actual hours worked, and the student’s and supervisor’s signatures.
Additional Information
Students must pass a criminal background check, TB test, and physical prior to starting. Attendance at all classroom sessions is mandatory per Indiana State Department of Health requirements; unsatisfactory attendance or performance may lead to dismissal. Students should check the facility for dress code details. Upon successful completion, a certificate is awarded. If the student is hired and in good standing, Miller’s will schedule and pay for the state exam; if not, the student may schedule and pay for the exam personally.
