Responsibilities
Protect lives and property by conducting foot and mobile security patrols, enforcing parking and traffic regulations, rendering emergency services, investigating minor crimes, and making arrests when necessary. Respond to emergencies and provide assistance as required. Prepare reports on activities, provide crowd and traffic control at special events, and operate police network computers and dispatch police officers in response to calls.

Requirements

One year of law enforcement experience.

Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university substitutes for one year of the required experience.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.

Possession of a current Louisiana driver's license.

Active Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification may be required.

Applicants convicted of a felony or under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from such disabilities is granted.

Physical ability to run, jump, stand for long periods, climb, crawl, carry, drag, work in all weather conditions, and change flat tires.

Ability to shoot a gun with either hand.

Ability to work collegially, displaying excellent customer service skills.

Position Details

Appointment Type: Probational appointment.

Work Schedule: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., with rotating 12‑hour shifts, overtime, weekends, holidays, shift work, and 24‑hour call.

Compensation
Special Entrance Rate (SER): $41,350.40.
