Middle School Teacher
Primary Purpose:
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences insixth grade math designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, and social growth. Enable students to develop core competencies, critical thinking skills, and a foundation for lifelong learning within a supportive middle school environment.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
Valid state teaching certificate with required endorsements for middle school grade levels and subject area assigned
Demonstrated knowledge of core content, differentiated instructional strategies, and classroom management
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior effectively during a key developmental transition period
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience teaching math at the middle school level (Grades 6–8)
Experience with subject-specific curriculum (e.g., Math, ELA, Science, or Social Studies)
Familiarity with state standards, testing requirements, and data-driven instruction
Experience implementing social-emotional learning (SEL) strategies
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Planning and Delivery
Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill state curriculum requirements and reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
Present subject matter according to established guidelines using effective teaching strategies and technology.
Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and developmental needs of middle school students.
Teach skills and concepts in the assigned subject area, ensuring alignment with campus goals.
Use assessment data to guide instruction and design targeted interventions.
Student Growth and Assessment
Assess student achievement through formal and informal testing.
Monitor student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback to students and parents.
Maintain accurate and complete records of student progress, attendance, grades, and other required data.
Identify and address student learning gaps through tutorials, interventions, and differentiated instruction.
Classroom Environment
Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of young adolescents.
Manage student behavior in accordance with district policies, administrative regulations, and campus expectations.
Establish and maintain open communication with students, parents, administrators, and colleagues.
Professional Responsibilities
Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
Attend faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
Collaborate with colleagues (including grade-level teams) to support student success and campus goals.
Maintain professional relationships with students, parents, and coworkers.
