
Editorial Assistant, Knopf Doubleday Publishing Group - (Hybrid) at Penguin Rand

Overview
Pantheon Books, an imprint of Knopf Doubleday Publishing Group, is seeking an Editorial Assistant to provide administrative and editorial support to an Editor and an Editor at Large on a distinguished list of fiction, nonfiction, and graphic novel titles.
Responsibilities
Evaluate manuscripts, write reader’s reports, log submissions, and draft rejection letters.
Schedule project activities, manage project timelines, and provide general support for managers.
Write and edit catalog, flap, and marketing copy for in‑house and out‑of‑house promotional use.
Prepare title information sheets and other marketing materials.
Coordinate with authors, publishers, agents, and internal departments to track the production process from finished manuscript to bound book.
Create P&Ls, contract information sheets, collect sales data, and conduct competitive title research.
Provide general administrative support: answer phones, take messages, book conference rooms, file expense reports, route author payments, track project due dates, execute mailings, and field questions from authors.
Qualifications
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Exceptional attention to detail, ability to prioritize, and strong follow‑up skills.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to take initiative and problem‑solve creatively.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Salary & Benefits
Salary: $51,000. Eligible for an annual profit award or bonus, subject to company results.
