Project Developer – Utility-Scale Solar & BESS
Gigantes Group, Houston, TX, United States
A leading renewable energy developer is seeking a Project Developer to drive the full lifecycle development of utility-scale solar and battery energy storage (BESS) projects across the US.
This is a hands on, deal driven role where you will take ownership of projects from early stage origination through to Ready-to-Build (RTB), Notice to Proceed (NTP), and into construction. You’ll be working at the center of development - managing land, interconnection, permitting, and commercial strategy to deliver bankable projects.
This opportunity is ideal for a developer who wants real ownership, strong deal exposure, and the ability to directly impact project outcomes within a growing pipeline.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the end-to-end development of utility-scale solar and BESS projects from greenfield through RTB, NTP, and into construction
Identify and advance new project opportunities through market analysis, transmission constraints, and policy drivers
Structure and negotiate land agreements, including leases, options, easements, and purchase agreements
Develop and execute interconnection strategy, including managing queue positions, system impact studies, and utility engagement
Drive permitting efforts across local, state, and federal jurisdictions, including environmental studies and approvals
Lead community and stakeholder engagement, including landowners, local authorities, and public meetings
Manage development budgets, schedules, risk registers, and milestone tracking
Coordinate cross-functionally with engineering, EPC, procurement, and construction teams to ensure project viability
Support project finance processes, including tax equity, debt financing, and diligence requirements
Partner with commercial and origination teams on offtake strategy, including PPAs, tolling, and merchant exposure
Manage external consultants across environmental, engineering, legal, and permitting workstreams
Requirements
4 - 8+ years of experience in renewable energy project development, with a strong focus on solar and/or BESS
Proven track record advancing utility-scale projects to RTB, NTP, or construction
Strong understanding of US power markets and interconnection processes (ERCOT experience highly relevant)
Experience negotiating land agreements and managing landowner relationships
Familiarity with permitting processes and regulatory frameworks across multiple jurisdictions
Strong commercial and financial understanding, including exposure to project finance structures
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple projects in parallel in a fast-paced, execution-focused environment
Willingness to travel as required to support project development activities
Why This Opportunity
Own and drive utility-scale solar and BESS projects from origination through execution
Work within the ERCOT and broader US markets on high-impact, grid-scale assets
Join a developer with a strong pipeline and active project flow
Gain exposure to all aspects of development, including interconnection, permitting, and financing
Operate in a role with real autonomy, responsibility, and decision-making influence
Clear progression into senior development or leadership roles as the platform grows
