
Utility Worker II-Water Division (May underfill as a UWI)

The City of Tigard’s Public Works Water Division is seeking a dedicated water professional to install, maintain, and repair water distribution infrastructure. The position requires a strong work ethic, teamwork, and the ability to work independently in various weather conditions and after-hours emergencies.
Responsibilities
Installation, repair, and replacement of water distribution main lines, fire hydrants, water meters, and water service lines.
Maintenance tasks including water main flushing, water valve exercising, fire hydrant maintenance, and meter-area upkeep.
Any combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.
Qualifications
(Utility Worker II)
Completion of twelfth (12th) grade.
Two (2) years of related experience in construction, repair, operation, and maintenance of streets, underground utilities, or parks and landscape.
(Utility Worker I)
Completion of twelfth (12th) grade and one (1) year of experience in construction, repair, operation, and maintenance of streets, underground utilities, routine service of light and heavy vehicles, or parks and landscape.
Preferred Additional Qualifications
Within two (2) years of entry into the position, obtain or demonstrate the ability to obtain a Water Distribution License through the Oregon Health Authority.
The successful candidate will pass a physical capacities test designed to evaluate the ability to perform the essential physical functions of the job.
Schedule
Working days are Monday through Thursday one week (9‑hour days) and Monday through Friday the next week (9‑hour days Monday through Thursday and an 8‑hour day on Friday), providing 3‑day weekends every other weekend.
