Job Description
Our client has an immediate opening for an Associate Attorney to join the civil defense litigation group in their New York City office, working on a broad range of general liability litigation matters including personal injury, motor vehicle, property damage, construction and labor law, and product liability. The New York practice has experienced exponential growth over the last year, and is now searching for another great addition to the team! The successful candidate will have at least three years’ experience litigating civil cases/claims, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and will be licensed to practice law in New York at the time of hire. Responsibilities
Manage a diverse caseload from inception through resolution.
Draft pleadings, answer written discovery, take depositions, and participate in arbitrations and trials.
Take and defend depositions of parties, fact witnesses, and expert witnesses.
Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis to develop sound case strategies.
Communicate with clients, the court, witnesses, opposing counsel, and co-counsel.
Provide regular and timely updates to clients on case status, strategy, and potential outcomes.
Work collaboratively with partners, associates, and legal staff.
Manage cases while adhering to billing and budget requirements.
Ability to travel for court, client meetings, etc.
Ability to work a hybrid schedule.
Requirements
3-7 years of experience, preferably in defense litigation.
J.D. from an accredited law school.
NY bar license, active and in good standing, required.
Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
Excellent communication skills.
Proven track record of success in courtroom appearances, depositions, and settlement negotiations.
Demonstrated interest in defense litigation.
Clerkship experience, a plus.
