Job Description
Schedule: Friday, Saturday, Sunday overnight 7pmto 7am
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, providers, team members, and others of diverse backgrounds. Moves, positions, and manipulates radiographic equipment to complete requested procedures safely. Performs direct patient care duties within the technologist’s scope of practice, including monitoring patient condition, transporting patient, and using proper infection control techniques. Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks. Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low. Cross-trains into advanced modalities as needed. Ability to follow basic radiation safety concepts of time, distance and shielding to keep exposure levels ALARA for patient and staff. Other duties as assigned. Performs radiographic imaging procedures, ensuring high-quality images that meet department standards. Positions patients and equipment, selecting technical factors to produce radiographic images safely and in a timely manner. Performs imaging with correct patient demographic and examination information. Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems. Assists patients during procedures, ensuring their comfort, safety, and privacy, in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledgeable in all aspects of Diagnostic Imaging to include Surgery and Trauma
Previous Radiologic Technologist experience [Preferred]
One year post certification experience required to evaluate and/or instruct student radiographers
Ability to analyze and assess data, techniques, methodology, equipment operation, and quality control to ensure that information is obtained and presented accurately
Up-to-date knowledge of patient positioning and equipment operations, including x‑ray producing equipment, if applicable per facility
Ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with patients and their family, hospital staff, nurses, physicians, and other health care professionals
Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the health care industry
Able to fully use all Radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment
Must be able to read, write and speak conversational English
Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office
Must be able to use computer system for data entry and retrieval
Patient care skills to care for Infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient populations
Must be able to independently perform radiographic procedures to departmental standards
Demonstrates ability to follow written and verbal instructions effectively
Ability to learn and use radiology software packages such as Cerner, Radnet, PACS, etc.
Maintain responsibility for all required registries and licenses to perform Diagnostic Imaging
Responsible to maintain all required continuing and annual education
Knowledge of Diagnostic Radiological Procedures/Positions
Ability to determine appropriate technical factors
Ability to learn and master new tasks related to Image Quality and Radiation Safety
Ability to communicate effectively and work with people of various diverse backgrounds
Adult and child and infant CPR [Required]
Ability to perform radiographic procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail
Knowledge of communication styles and constant deployment of proper engagement behaviors when encountering patients, staff, and physicians
This position requires knowledge of the use of computerized and radiographic equipment to perform diagnostic procedures in a manner consistent with minimal radiation exposure and maximum image quality
The ability to communicate and receive instructions, verbally and written and carry them out as directed
Must be able to operate radiographic equipment and work with electrical and radiant energy
Comprehensive knowledge of general radiographic procedures
Ability to multi‑task efficiently in a fast pace, high patient volume environment
Strong critical thinking skills
Must have the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care that addressed the physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and age appropriate needs to the patient population served within the department
