Responsibilities
This entry-level position is with the Environmental Microbiology Section. The duties include performing standardized qualitative microbiological analysis of drinking water using moderate to high complexity instrumentation; conducting a variety of laboratory tests and analyses according to standard operating procedures; safely and effectively operating and maintaining scientific instruments; performing quality control and quality assessment procedures; maintaining stock reagents and consumables; and interpreting data under close supervision.
Training
Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in a biological, microbiological, chemical, or environmental science, medical technology, molecular biology, forensic science, or related field.
Special Requirement
For positions which involve processing and analysis of human specimens and/or the generation or interpretation of laboratory results that may be used in the diagnosis or treatment of a disease or condition in humans, the incumbent must have or be eligible for licensure as a WV Clinical Laboratory Practitioner as required by 64 C.S.R.§57.
