Overview
Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Critical Care Stepdown Unit – PVSU (Progressive Ventilator Stepdown Unit). The position is full‑time, day shift.
Qualified applicants are eligible for up to a $15,000 sign‑on bonus. New graduate RNs are invited to apply. The unit offers an 11‑week Transition to Practice program followed by a comprehensive 6‑month residency program to support your transition into intermediate care practice.
The PVSU is a 16‑bed step‑down unit specializing in care for patients on mechanical ventilators with a nurse‑to‑patient ratio of 3:1.
Responsibilities
Assess and admit patients to the unit.
Perform rounding checks and provide ongoing patient care.
Administer medications and manage patient medication schedules.
Communicate with patients’ families regarding care plans.
Assume overall responsibility for the care of assigned patients.
