GastroenterologistPosition Summary The Gastroenterologist provides comprehensive medical care for patients with disorders of the gastrointestinal tract, liver, pancreas, and biliary system. This role includes the evaluation, diagnosis, and management of acute and chronic digestive diseases, performance of endoscopic procedures, and collaboration with multidisciplinary care teams to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.Key ResponsibilitiesEvaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with gastrointestinal, hepatic, and pancreatic disordersPerform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including upper endoscopy and colonoscopyManage conditions such as GERD, inflammatory bowel disease, liver disease, gastrointestinal bleeding, and colorectal cancer screeningInterpret diagnostic tests, imaging, and pathology resultsDevelop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plansProvide inpatient consultations and outpatient clinic servicesCollaborate with surgeons, oncologists, primary care providers, and ancillary servicesEducate patients and families regarding disease processes, treatment options, and preventive careMaintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in the electronic health recordParticipate in quality improvement, patient safety, and service line initiativesPractice SettingOutpatient gastroenterology clinic with procedural endoscopy suiteHospital-based inpatient consult coverageCall coverage shared within the gastroenterology groupPatient PopulationAdult patients with a broad range of gastrointestinal conditionsPreventive, diagnostic, and longitudinal careQualificationsMD or DO from an accredited medical schoolCompletion of an accredited Internal Medicine residencyCompletion of an accredited Gastroenterology fellowshipBoard certified or board eligible in GastroenterologyEligible for unrestricted medical licensure in the practicing stateDEA registration or eligibilitySkills & CompetenciesExpertise in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopyStrong clinical judgment and decision-making skillsExcellent communication and interdisciplinary collaboration abilitiesCommitment to patient-centered, evidence-based careAbility to manage complex gastrointestinal conditionsWork EnvironmentGastroenterology clinic, endoscopy suite, and hospital settingsMultidisciplinary, team-based care modelFocus on quality outcomes and continuity of care
