Overview
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Dietary Aide to join our hospital kitchen team in Tucson, AZ. This role is essential in supporting daily food service operations for patients, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate will be flexible, team-oriented, and capable of performing a wide range of kitchen duties, including cooking, dishwashing, food preparation, and maintaining a clean and sanitary environment in compliance with healthcare standards.
Responsibilities
Prepare and cook meals according to standardized recipes, dietary restrictions, and physician orders
Assist with food preparation tasks such as chopping, portioning, and assembling meals
Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
Wash dishes, utensils, pots, and pans using commercial dishwashing equipment
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen surfaces, storage areas, and equipment
Properly store food items in accordance with food safety regulations (FIFO, temperature control, etc.)
Deliver meal trays to patients and collect them after service as needed
Follow all infection control and safety guidelines specific to an acute care environment
Assist with inventory management, stocking supplies, and receiving deliveries
Work collaboratively with dietary staff, nurses, and other healthcare professionals
Perform additional duties as assigned to support kitchen operations
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Previous experience in food service, healthcare, or institutional cooking is a plus
Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices (ServSafe certification preferred but not required)
Ability to follow recipes and dietary guidelines accurately
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Must be able to stand for long periods and lift up to 40 lbs
Schedule & Work Environment
Full-time and part-time positions may be available
Flexible scheduling, including weekends and holidays
Work is performed in a hospital kitchen setting with exposure to heat, noise, and cleaning chemicals
