Position

Senior Nursing Attendant Unit 4500 Day Shift.

Responsibilities
Assists in implementation of the nursing process by performing direct and indirect patient care to assigned patients under the supervision of the Registered Professional Nurse.

Assists in maintaining an orderly and safe patient care environment and unit. Performs EKG, glucometer testing and phlebotomy.

Assembles O2 and suction set-ups.

Assists with Admission/Transfer/Discharge of patients and orients patient to hospital environment as outlined in the Patient Assessment Database.

Provides patient with toileting supplies; assists patient to remove clothes, complete property checklist and safeguard personal property through Security.

Assists in transfer of patients by gathering belongings, completing clothing list and assisting in moving the patient. Prepares bedside unit to receive patients.

Discharges: assists patient to dress and pack personal belongings; escorts patient as necessary and remains with the patient until they have left the building.

Conducts patient rounds minimally every two hours for toileting, positioning, comfort, safety and personal needs. Answers patient call lights and responds to patient needs promptly.

Provides basic hygiene to patients (bathing, PM care, mouth care, denture care, hair care, nail and foot care, shaving, bedpan/urinal/commode as needed).

Prepares patients for meals and assists with feeding and related tasks; ensures feeding bags are monitored.

Performs and/or assists with simple treatments and procedures (e.g., sitz bath, binder application, SCD wraps, ace bandages, limb soaks, simple dressing changes, wound care as directed by RN).

Performs enema procedures and collects specimens as directed by RN.

Monitors and reports changes in patient condition to RN; responds to patient/family needs with compassion.

Maintains a safe and uncluttered environment; assists with supply and equipment management; maintains cleanliness of utility rooms and pantries.

Measures and records vital signs and intake/output as directed; documents and communicates findings to the RN.

Assists with post mortem care and attends staff meetings as required.

Performs other duties as aligned with the organization’s mission and values, including assisting with moving, lifting, positioning and transporting patients and responding to unit needs.

Performs EKG and applies cardiac leads; performs venous phlebotomy; observes IV sites for infiltration and secures catheters as directed by RN.

Assists with procedures and treatments as directed; provides patient care to respiratory patients as determined by unit protocols (e.g., tracheostomy care, suctioning, pulse oximetry).

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma required. 1+ years relevant experience. Strong customer service and communication skills.

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $42,743.47 - $47,888.31 Annually. Actual salaries depend on experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
