Location: Holly Springs, Mississippi. Position Type: Full‑time/Regular.

STGi is currently seeking a

Phlebotomist/Laboratory Technician

to provide services at our Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC). The general duty of the Phlebotomist is to provide phlebotomy services as well as administrative/clerical support for the CBOC.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Perform a full range of phlebotomy duties including proper venipuncture, finger‑stick, and heel‑stick procedures using appropriate techniques. Set up and complete special test‑related phlebotomy procedures, ensuring all aspects of patient accessioning, specimen collection, processing, and distribution are performed properly.

Conduct patient in‑processing prior to specimen collection, including review of paperwork and providing cordial guidance and assistance.

Assemble equipment such as tourniquet, needles, disposable containers, blood collection devices, gauze, cotton, and alcohol on the work tray based on requirements for specified tests or procedures.

Verify or record patient or donor identity, converse with the patient or donor to allay fear of the procedure, conduct interviews, take vital signs, and draw and test blood samples to screen donors at the blood bank.

Provide technical oversight and training to ensure that all invasive procedures (venipuncture, capillary puncture, clotting time, etc.) are performed safely, sanitary, and expediently with minimal discomfort.

Perform phlebotomy‑related administrative and clerical procedures of the front desk section of the lab, fully document all samples per the laboratory's SOPs, and maintain supply inventory and cleanliness.

Provide non‑phlebotomy administrative support in various clinic areas as needed (front desk, exam rooms, telehealth, etc.).

Give instruction on patient‑centered specimen collection (24‑hour urine, occult blood testing, semen analysis, etc.) and special requirements such as fasting or diet.

Demonstrate knowledge of age‑specific techniques to obtain specimens from infants and the elderly when applicable.

Counsel patients on post‑phlebotomy care for potential complications such as hematomas, syncope, vomiting, or unconsciousness.

Provide general clerical/administrative coordination support for the unit.

Perform other work‑related duties as assigned.

Required Skills

Minimum of two (2) years of current clinical experience as a phlebotomist.

Current certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (PBT‑ASCP or RPT‑AMT).

Basic Life Support (BLS) / Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.

Knowledge of medical terminology.

Ability to manage patient reactions such as syncope, vomiting, or unconsciousness.

Exceptional diplomatic communication skills and experience handling difficult customers.

Detail‑oriented and able to multi‑task.

Required Experience

High‑school graduate or equivalent; college degree preferred.

Either a degree or certification from an approved phlebotomy training program, or 12 months of phlebotomy experience within the past 36 months.

Medical assistant, LPN/LVN certification preferred.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements

Moderate physical activity: handling objects up to 25 lb, standing/walking for more than 4 hours a day.

Typical interior/office work environment.

Must respond to medical emergencies where a fast walk may be necessary.
