Job Description

Since the Army National Guard uses a plethora of electronic systems, power is essential to success. As the Power-Generation Equipment Repairer, you’ll supply the power to run virtually every aspect of Army activity whenever and wherever it’s needed.
Job Duties

Perform preventive maintenance checks on generation equipment, replace voltage regulators, governors, or circuit cards.
Adjust frequencies and voltages using technical publications to enhance equipment efficiency.
Perform maintenance on tactical utility, precise power-generation sets, internal combustion engines, and associated equipment.
Some of the Skills You’ll Learn

Electrical generation and distribution
Diesel generator operation, disassembly, inspection, and maintenance
Principles of electrical and electronic circuitry

Experience using hand and power tools
Interest in electricity and working with large machinery

In the Army National Guard, you will learn these valuable job skills while earning a regular paycheck and qualifying for tuition assistance.
Training consists of 10 weeks of Basic Training and approximately 12 weeks of Advanced Individual Training, including classroom and field practice.

Requirements

Military enlistment in the Army National Guard
Must be at least a junior in high school, or have a high school diploma or a GED certificate
Must be between the ages of 17 and 35
Must be able to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards
Must meet citizenship requirements (see NATIONALGUARD.com for details)
