Finish Carpenter
This role involves performing a wide range of rough and finish carpentry tasks on commercial construction sites. You will work from structural and architectural drawings to build, install, and finish various components, ensuring high-quality craftsmanship and safe, efficient project execution. The immediate need is for a project in North Dakota, focused on building a church, which will include detailed finish work such as pew construction, trim installation, and hanging doors.
Responsibilities
Perform both rough and finish carpentry on commercial construction projects.
Build and set concrete forms and scaffolding in accordance with project specifications and safety standards.
Construct partition walls and framing, including metal stud framing where required.
Install doors and hardware, ensuring proper alignment, function, and finish.
Install door and window frames with precise measurements and secure fastening.
Install bathroom accessories, partitions, casework, and cabinetry as specified in project plans.
Complete trim work, including baseboards, casing, and detailed finish carpentry.
Participate in specialty work such as building church pews and other custom wood features.
Read and interpret structural and architectural blueprints and drawings.
Set up and use layout instruments to ensure accurate measurements and placements.
Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently for cutting, fastening, and finishing materials.
Measure materials accurately using a tape measure and verify dimensions before cutting or installation.
Assist with drywall-related tasks and restoration work as needed on projects.
Work on both new construction and renovation projects in a commercial setting, with occasional residential work as needed.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area and follow all site safety guidelines.
Collaborate with other crew members and supervisors to complete tasks on schedule.
Lift, carry, and position materials and equipment weighing up to 50–100 pounds as required by the job.
Essential Skills
At least 2+ years of construction experience, preferably with exposure to commercial projects.
Proficiency in finish carpentry, including trim work, casework, and detailed wood finishing.
Experience with rough carpentry, including framing and structural work.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, including structural and architectural prints.
Strong tape measure proficiency and ability to take accurate measurements.
Hands‑on experience with window and door installation, including frames and hardware.
Proficient use of hand and power tools commonly used in carpentry.
Capability to lift and carry 50–100 pounds safely during daily tasks.
Ability to work safely on active construction sites and follow safety procedures.
Reliability in completing assigned tasks and meeting project deadlines.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in commercial construction environments.
Experience in residential construction, restoration, or renovation work.
Knowledge of metal stud framing and related installation techniques.
Familiarity with cabinetry installation and casework in commercial settings.
Experience working with drywall in conjunction with carpentry tasks.
Comfort working on a variety of project types, including new construction and additions.
Ability to travel for short‑term projects, such as a multi‑week assignment in North Dakota.
