Job Summary
Southern Industrial Constructors, Inc. seeks Riggers to work out of our Raleigh, NC office on various job sites in the surrounding area. Must be willing to travel. Hired candidates will be considered for benefits / paid time off after 3 months.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Select cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks, and sheaves according to weight and size of load to be moved.
Attach pulley and blocks to fixed overhead structures such as beams, ceilings, and gin pole booms with bolts and clamps.
Attach load with grappling devices such as loops, wires, and chains to crane hook.
Give directions to crane operator during hoisting to ensure safety using hand signals, loudspeaker, or telephone.
Set up, brace, and rig hoisting equipment using hand tools and power wrenches.
Splice rope and wire cables to make or repair slings and tackle.
Coordinate movement of equipment and materials using visual signals and directions.
Rate information using measurable standards.
Detect, recognize, and respond to dangerous conditions or situations.
Regular attendance required.
Significant travel may be required.
Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
Skilled in both written and verbal communication.
Complete all safety and general job training as required by SIC.
Observe SIC and customer safety and quality processes and procedures at all times.
Physical Demands
Must be able to use PPE equipment and lift up to fifty pounds.
Work in office, shop, busy traffic areas, warehouses, undeveloped properties; frequently exposed to dirt, dust, grease, oil, vibrations, adverse weather.
Must safely access all areas of property, buildings, structures, wharves, rooftops, and other elevated positions, and confined spaces.
Strenuous physical demands required to perform essential functions.
Must operate all equipment and tools safely.
Must stand for long periods, bend consistently, work in confined spaces with limited access, on ladders, personnel lifts, workboats, and awkward body positions.
