Job Title: Associate Mechanical Engineer
Location: Lockport, LA
Position Overview: An Associate Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the design of a vessel’s propulsion and auxiliary systems, piping and HVAC.
Key Responsibilities
Actively interfaces with other engineering disciplines and production departments
Prepares purchase technical specifications
Directs designers in the development of functional drawings
Directs and coordinates activities involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of mechanical or electromechanical products and systems for use onboard vessels
Researches and analyzes data, such as customer design proposal, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application
Guides personnel in fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment, and development of testing methods and procedures
Ensures that products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications
May design products and systems to interface machines, hardware, and software
Other duties assigned or requested by Management.
Qualifications
0+ years’ working experience with Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering OR 4+ years relevant industry experience. Shipyard experience is preferred.
Skills
Knowledge of piping, heating-ventilation-air conditioning (HVAC), insulation, machinery ventilation, sewage systems, and sea water systems concepts;
Ability to use computer assisted engineering software to design the products or systems listed above;
Ability to support all production and testing activities.
Familiarity with CFR, ABS, NVIC and USCG rules and regulations for mechanical and piping systems along with other applicable regulations.
Must have basic computer skills using Microsoft applications (i.e., MS Excel, MS Word); and
Must be self-motivated and exhibit excellent communication and leadership skills.
