
Signal Draftsman

SUMMARY
The Signal Draftsman (Mid-Level) prepares, revises, and maintains railroad signal system drawings and technical documentation with minimal supervision. This role applies to established engineering standards and sound technical judgment to support signal engineering projects, construction activities, and maintenance operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop complete and accurate railroad signal plans, layouts, schematics, wiring diagrams, and material lists.
Revise existing signal drawings to reflect design changes and as-built conditions.
Interpret signal designs, engineering notes, and field information.
Apply G&W standards, FRA regulations, and AREMA practices.
Ensure that all signal systems are in compliance with 49 CFR 234 and 236.1
Update signal engineering standard drawings, layouts, schematics, and diagrams.
Coordinate with Signal Engineers, Supervisors, and field personnel.
Manage assigned drafting tasks with minimal supervision.
Utilize MicroStation drafting software.
Maintain drawing files and revision histories.
Perform limited review of junior drafting work when assigned.
Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND CREDENTIALS
Bachelor’s degree in engineering is positive but not required.
Proficiency in MicroStation or AutoCAD
Knowledge of railroad signal systems.
Strong attention to detail.
Effective communication skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities.
