Position Summary
Northrop Grumman Armament Systems designs, builds and delivers space, defense and aviation-related systems to customers worldwide. The Engineering Technician will provide technical support to engineers in the Armament Systems Division at our Elk River, MN office.

Position Description
Provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks. Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles and manipulates technical data such as material test results and engineering design changes. Produces engineering documentation, reports and drawings (flow charts, block diagrams and schematics). Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided (trajectory adequacy, model dimensional consistency) and quantitative judgments concerning technical data. Uses personal computer to perform analyses and develop documentation/reports. May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis.

Typical Duties

Work in a munitions test environment with medium to high complexity systems.

Operate and perform many different types of medium caliber gun systems, environmental testing and energetic testing.

Collaborate with Engineers, Production Control and Test Personnel in a fast‑moving environment.

Meticulously follow Detailed Operating Procedures and collect/record data as necessary.

Work with Engineers to develop electrical/mechanical designs during early‑stage development programs.

Possess interest and ability for international travel to support customer contracts.

Be able to multi‑task.

Basic Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent education completion.

2 years of experience in electrical/mechanical testing.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Computer proficiency.

As a responsible party to ATF, obtain coverage under Safe Explosive Act upon starting.

Desired Qualifications

Technical or vocational 2‑year electronics/mechanical degree from a trade school or equivalent is strongly preferred.

3 years of experience in electrical/mechanical testing strongly desired.

High electrical and/or mechanical aptitude preferred.
