Position Description
Ryder is hiring a Senior Level Diesel Technician in West Sacramento, CA. — offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a Technician career you can feel good about.
Pay & Benefits
Hourly Pay: $39.24 per hour
Sign On Bonus: $1,500
Schedule: Tuesday–Saturday
Hours: First Shift 6:00 am – 2:30 pm
Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE certification obtained, up to $700
Quarterly Bonus: Up to $500 every quarter (four times per year)
CDL A or B required
608 and 609 required

Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Vocational or technical certification, a post‑secondary degree or technical certifications, preferred
Basic tools required
Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including:
Routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems
Three (3) years or more relevant work experience, preferred
All other certifications as required by location, required
Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A, preferred
Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy‑duty and medium‑duty equipment
Knowledge of computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
Job Duties
Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties including:
Standard and preventive maintenance
Diagnoses complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computer when applicable
Completes complex and detailed mechanical inspections & repairs with minimal supervision
Replaces defective components as instructed
Works unsupervised on most tasks
Performs facility maintenance duties
Interacts with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
Utilizes key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
Works in accordance with all federal, provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
Acts as mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
Demonstrates ability to access and use internal and external maintenance documents
Other support duties as required, such as Service Island support
SBTIII training within 180 days (SBT220)
Completes 2 of the OEM on‑line diagnostic scan tool software courses required by location fleet mix within 365 days
Additional Requirements
Must obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
Pass a Ryder drug test
Pass a DOT physical
Pass a Ryder road test
Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years

Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification; motor vehicle records check; a road test; and/or badging or background requirements of the customer to which you are assigned.
