Job Summary
ABB is looking for a Tool Room Machinist with minimum experience. The main role is to set up and operate manual and computer‑controlled (CNC) machine tools to support the repair of forming and progressive stamping dies. The position will assist experienced tool and die makers in fabricating and maintaining stamping tooling.
Responsibilities
Interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and work orders to determine dimensions and tolerances.
Program CNC machines using G‑code or CAM software.
Select and install appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and materials for each job.
Set up, operate, and disassemble manual and CNC machine tools such as mills and lathes.
Monitor machine speeds and operations to maintain accuracy and quality.
Produce, repair, and modify precision tools, dies, molds, and related parts.
Inspect finished products using precision measuring tools to ensure they meet specifications.
Perform corrective and preventative maintenance on machinery.
Troubleshoot machine or programming issues.
Adhere to safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other team members.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Requirements
High school diploma or GED.
Technical training in machining or manufacturing, up to 4 years into an apprenticeship program.
Proficiency with blueprint reading and geometric dimensioning.
Familiarity with CNC programming (G‑code) and CAM software.
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and problem‑solving skills.
Manual dexterity and good hand‑eye coordination.
Experience with measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, scales, height gages).
Excellent communication skills and ability to work with teams.
Ability to lift heavy objects.
Knowledge of metal properties is desired.
Progressive stamping dies maintenance experience (desired).
Microsoft Office skills.
Compensation & Work Model
Hourly pay range: $33.07–$40.46 (2nd shift). Shift premium for 2nd & 3rd shift. Work model: Onsite.
Position reports to: Tony Hernandez.
