About the Department
Bayside Health - Alfred Care group’s Department of Infectious Diseases incorporates the Victorian HIV Service. It provides quaternary HIV Services in Victoria and is a national leader in HIV care, research and education.

The Role
Senior Clinician Social Worker for the HIV Outward Program, providing social work services to patients living with HIV across inpatient, outpatient and community settings.

Responsibilities

Provide social work services to patients living with HIV and their families/significant others across inpatient, outpatient and community settings.

Manage clinically complex cases referred to the HIV Outward service.

Work collaboratively with nursing, medical and mental health clinicians as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.

Apply trauma‑informed practice and contemporary social work theory.

Offer comprehensive counselling related to chronic illness and adjustment to diagnosis.

Qualifications and Experience

Eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers; Bachelor of Social Work or recognised equivalent.

Minimum seven years of clinical social work experience, preferably within a health‑based context.

Working towards post‑graduate qualifications.

Evidence of involvement in and/or understanding of principles of research and evaluation.

Advanced computer literacy.

Ability to work effectively in a multi‑disciplinary team and with families, exhibiting initiative and facilitative qualities.

Victorian driver’s licence.
